new!Journal of Speleo-Electronics. At the end of June 2006 I expect to produce the first issue of a new magazine, A Journal of Speleo-Electronics. As its editor and publisher, I have designed this magazine to complement the CREG journal (the journal of BCRA's Cave Radio & Electronics Group) for which I am still the Technical Editor. JSpE is intended to contain longer, more technical articles than may be the case in future editions of the CREG journal. For further information, go to caves.org.uk/radio/jspe.

Cave Radiolocation. A collection of previously published articles covering a period of 14 years, by David Gibson MA PhD MIEE. Most of these articles are from the CREG journal. This collection is a draft, softbound edition of 70 pages and is available from stock with immediate delivery. More Info

Channel Characterisation and System Design for Sub-surface Communications. A book by David Gibson MA PhD MIEE bringing together my many articles and papers on sub-surface communications systems. Currently, this is being issued as a softbound draft edition of 298 pages and is available from stock with immediate delivery. More Info

May 2006: Most of the rest of this page has not been updated since October 2004 or earlier. I might get around to it eventually.

Two essays on Radiolocation for Cave Surveying and Communications in Caves gives some useful background to 'cave radio'. The essays are supplemented by the reference below.

Selected references for Radiolocation and Communications in Caves. This list gives background information, and notes of how to build equipment.

Radio-location - My draft page on radiolocation (long overdue for updating), with links to other sites.

Channel Sounder - a description of my low frequency channel sounder, as presented at the 6th International Symposium on Digital Signal Processing for Communications Systems: DSPCS 02 in Sydney. A list of 'suggested further reading' is given.

HeyPhone Cave Rescue Communication System, online information. Many individuals in CREG and the UK rescue groups have contributed to this project. Information on how to build a HeyPhone can be downloaded from the HeyPhone site. Footnote on copyright.

I am employed on a permanent research contract at the UK's Mines Rescue Service. See MRSL-Research.com and WaterChem.info although, at present, those sites are not publicly available.

The Cave Radio & Electronics Group (CREG) is a Special Interest Group of the British Cave Research Association. It can now be bookmarked as www.bcra.org.uk/creg/. This site includes a links page to other cave-electronics and LF amateur radio sites.

CREG Subscriptions can be paid online via my payments page. You can also use this to pay me for flashgun slaves etc.

Comments on Cave Radio - a selection of nine of my (sometimes controversial) 'comment' or 'editorial' pieces in the CREG journal. (Last updated 27/12/00)

Unsorted - a few links I havent got around to sorting yet (last updated 29/3/00). If you want to be listed here, let me know.
