To subscribe to any of the lists below, send a blank email message to list-subscribe@lists.caves.org.uk, where list is the name of the list, and is currently one of the following: meetings, photography, cave-registry, cscc, hawksmoor. To unsubscribe, send a blank message to list-unsubscribe@lists.caves.org.uk. Mail to these addresses is dealt with automatically. If you wish to converse with a real person, send your message to list-owner@lists.caves.org.uk.

Currently-available lists include...

1. Meetings
   Purpose: Info and discussion of public caving meetings in UK.
    
2. Photography
   Purpose: UKCave Photography Group online discussion.
    
3. Cave-Registry
   Purpose: Discussion/admin of the National Cave, Karst and Mines Registry
    
4. CSCC
   Purpose: Discussion of issues of concern and the admin. of CSCC.
    
5. Hawksmoor
   Purpose: Nicholas Hawksmoor School, class of 77: online chat
   Note that this is a 'closed' list and your subscription request will go the list administrator for approval.
    
6. Other Lists
   Other private lists exist.

These mailing lists all have a common set of rules which is, essentially, ...

1. Postings are only accepted from subscribers to the list.
2. For private lists, subscriptions must be approved by the moderator.
3. 'spam', 'flames', advertising and off-charter postings are not allowed.
4. Posts should, ideally, be readable as plain text. HTML, RTF and similarly formatted messages are frowned upon. There are some helpful guidelines at www.usenet.org.uk/ukpost.html, which also explains how to configure your mailer to post in plain text.
5. Encoded binaries (e.g. pictures, compressed files, etc.) are not allowed.
6. Please use your editor to trim previous posts before replying to them. The quoting of entire previous messages and the 'top- posting' of replies is frowned upon.
